Lincoln City were today announced as winners of this season’s Emirates FA Cup Giant-Killing Award.

The Imps beat off stiff competition from Millwall, Stourbridge and Sutton United to win the award for our heroics in a 1-0 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor. The famous Fifth Round win saw us become the first non-League side to reach the Quarter Finals since 1914, where we won further plaudits in defeat to this year’s Finalists Arsenal.

We amassed over 69% of the public votes on thefa.com. Millwall came in second place for their performance in beating Leicester City to reach the same stage of the competition.

The award will be presented to representatives from the Club at Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Final by Ronnie Radford, scorer of one of the most memorable FA Cup giant-killing goals for Hereford United against Newcastle United in 1972.

Andy Ambler, The FA’s head of professional game relations said: "There were four very worthy nominees, all of whom demonstrated exactly why the Emirates FA Cup is so special. However there can only be one winner and Lincoln City grabbed headlines across the world with their victory at Turf Moor and it is fitting that we are able to recognise their efforts with this award."

City manager Danny Cowley said: "We are delighted to receive this accolade and it is particularly special that it was voted for by the general public. The victory at Turf Moor was an unforgettable day for all involved at the club.  Our exploits in the Emirates FA Cup are something we can all be very proud of and we’ll continue to reap the benefits of our achievements in the competition for many years to come."
